  Brad & Dea Burroughs are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Beth Burroughs, to Nathan Geater, son of Bryon & Kelly Geater. Beth is a 2008 graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg High School  and a 2012 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Kinesiology and Health. She is currently employed with ChildServe in Ames as a Skill Development Assistant.

The University of Dubuque congratulates the following students on being appointed to the Spring Semester 2012 Academic Dean's List: From Belle Plaine, Travis Dahlgren   Shellsburg, Alex Trannel Urbana Dylan Ramsey   To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.

  Upper Iowa University named Taylor Brecht, of Norway, IA to its 2012 Spring Dean's List. To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 G.P.A. for the semester while enrolled as a full-time student.   Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, awarded degrees and honors at its 169th Commencement Ceremony on May 12, 2012.  Rhonda Bridgewater was honored at the ceremony. Bridgewater of Shellsburg graduated with a MSN degree in Nursing.  Clarke University is a Catholic, liberal arts and sciences university dedicated to preparing students to make an impact.

The following area student was named to the Dean's List at Clarke University for the spring 2012 semester. The list recognizes full-time Clarke students who have earned a 3.65 grade point average or above, on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum of 12 graded hours. Maria L.   UW-Stevens Point undergraduates honored for scholastic achievement  The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored 2,510 undergraduate students for attaining high grade point averages during the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.  Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation.

  Valerie Newhouse, President of Iowa Lakes Community College, has released the spring honors list of full-time students (12 credits or more) who have demonstrated academic excellence by earning a grade point average of 3.25 (based on a 4.00) or higher.  Demetris Manternach of Blairstown was among those honored. Spring semester students who have achieved a 3.
